Lewandowski Bids Farewell to Barcelona After Four Trophy-Laden Years

Robert Lewandowski has confirmed he will leave FC Barcelona this summer when his contract expires, bringing the curtain down on a remarkable four-year chapter at the Catalan club. The Polish striker made the announcement on Instagram, writing that his “mission is complete” after four seasons of silverware and personal milestones.

The 37-year-old joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022, arriving at a club in financial turmoil and uncertain of its identity. He wasted no time making his mark, finishing as La Liga’s top scorer in his debut campaign under Xavi Hernandez.

A Legacy Written in Goals

Across 191 appearances in all competitions, Lewandowski found the net 119 times — a staggering return that helped Barcelona reclaim Spanish football’s summit. His contributions powered the club to three La Liga titles, including the current season’s championship, and a Copa del Rey triumph in 2025. This season alone, he netted 18 goals in 44 games despite his advancing age.

A Farewell Fit for a Legend

Lewandowski will make his final Camp Nou appearance on Sunday against Real Betis, with coach Hansi Flick confirming he will start. Flick, who previously worked with Lewandowski at Bayern Munich, praised him as “a world-class player” and “a perfect role model.” Barcelona’s official channels echoed that sentiment, stating he “arrived as a star” and “leaves as a legend.”

In his farewell message, Lewandowski expressed deep affection for Catalonia, thanking club president Joan Laporta and the supporters who embraced him from day one. His next destination remains unannounced, but his Barcelona legacy is already secure.
