Ronaldo Sets Record With 25th Straight Scoring Season
Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his remarkable run of longevity, becoming the first footballer to score in 25 consecutive league seasons. The 41-year-old achieved the feat during Al Nassr’s 4-0 victory over Al Riyadh, coming off the bench and needing just 21 minutes to find the net after entering the match. Ronaldo replaced teammate Abdullah Al Hamddan in the 62nd minute before slotting home Al Nassr’s fourth goal in the 83rd, finishing left-footed from the centre of the box after a delivery from teammate Aiman Yahya.
A Streak Spanning Four Countries and Five Clubs
The goal means Ronaldo has now scored in every league season since his debut in 2002-03 with Sporting CP as a teenager. His unbroken streak has survived transitions across four different countries and five separate club spells, including two stints at Manchester United, nine seasons at Real Madrid, three years at Juventus, and his ongoing chapter with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia since 2022-23. With this achievement, Ronaldo has surpassed former AC Milan and Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who had held the previous record of 24 consecutive scoring seasons between 1999-2000 and 2022-23.
Closing In on 1,000 Career Goals
Ronaldo’s latest strike also pushed his career tally to 977 goals, leaving him just 23 short of the 1,000-goal milestone. His goal-scoring record is spread across several clubs and his national team: 450 for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, 101 for Juventus, 130 for Al Nassr, five for Sporting, and 146 for Portugal. The result also kept Al Nassr’s perfect start to the new Saudi Pro League season intact, as the club continues its 2026-27 campaign unbeaten.
