Snap Posts Modest Q2 Growth Amid Specs Uncertainty

napchat added 10 million daily active users globally in Q2 2026, while parent company Snap Inc. posted year-over-year revenue growth ahead of its AR-enabled Specs rollout. Yet the results reveal a mixed picture, with user growth stalling in Snap’s most lucrative advertising markets even as expansion continues elsewhere.

US and Europe Growth Stalls

Snapchat’s US daily audience stayed flat quarter over quarter, while its European base saw only marginal gains after regaining roughly a million daily actives. Most of the platform’s growth is instead coming from its “Rest of World” segment, particularly India, where advertiser numbers have reportedly grown tenfold over two years. Since Snap earns significantly more revenue per user in the US and EU, this shift toward lower-monetizing regions poses a challenge for future income growth.

Overall, Snap generated approximately $1.6 billion in revenue for the quarter, up 4% from Q1 and 19% year over year. CEO Evan Spiegel noted that advertising revenue rose 9% annually, while non-advertising income, including Snapchat+ subscriptions, jumped 85% to $316 million, boosted by the Lens+ tier and expanded Memories storage plans. Still, fewer than 3% of monthly users pay for subscriptions, showing ad revenue remains the platform’s primary lifeline.

Specs Launch Adds Financial Pressure

Spiegel also addressed the rollout of Snap’s AI-enabled Specs glasses, which launched for pre-order in June at $2,195 but drew a lukewarm reception over comfort concerns. The device faces stiff competition from better-funded rivals like Meta and Apple. Spiegel said Snap plans to pace its Specs investment to control costs, though the initiative remains a financial gamble without stronger ad-business momentum to offset it.
