Meta Unveils Muse AI Updates, New Glasses and Lighter VR Headset
Meta used its annual Connect conference in Menlo Park this week to reveal a wave of AI-driven updates, spanning its Muse assistant, several new AI glasses models, and a redesigned VR headset. CEO Mark Zuckerberg framed the announcements as confirmation of the company’s shift away from the metaverse toward artificial intelligence as its central focus.
Muse Gets Smarter and More Secure
Muse, Meta’s personal AI agent, headlined the event. Zuckerberg highlighted its Secure VM privacy system, which keeps user data inaccessible even to Meta itself. Chief AI officer Alexandr Wang detailed upcoming features, including dedicated email addresses for Muse agents and new retail partnerships with companies such as Walmart, Best Buy, Sephora and Expedia. Muse is also expanding into Canada, and users will soon be able to customize their agent’s voice. A companion device called Muse Charm, described as a Tamagotchi-style gadget, is also in development.
New Glasses and a Lighter VR Headset
On the hardware side, Meta introduced audio-only AI glasses for users wary of camera-equipped models, alongside the upcoming Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, which adds a slimmer frame, longer battery life and Dolby Atmos audio capture. Additional styles, including Aviator and Zena, along with an Adventurer model priced at $249, were also shown. A limited-edition collaboration with K-pop star Lisa was announced as well.
Meta also detailed its next-generation VR glasses, which are five times lighter than the current Quest 3 headset thanks to a tethered design that shifts compute and battery power to a separate pocket-sized puck. The device integrates Muse for voice-driven control and will launch this spring at $1,299.
