In the black-and-white selfie, Jessica Simpson and her little girl are cuddling with their cheeks pressed together, smiling and looking happy. Birdie Mae has her arms wrapped around her mother’s neck while Simpson places her hands over her daughter’s arms.

The post’s caption features a quote by Dolly Parton, “If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours. The mother-daughter duo appears dressed casually in the photo. Birdie Mae wearing a long-sleeve shirt with hearts printed on it and Simpson wearing a plain top.

Simpson and her husband, Eric Johnson, are parents to three children: Birdie Mae, Maxwell (10), and Ace (9).

Earlier this month, Simpson gave her Instagram followers a glimpse into their family life by posting selfies with her children. In the photos, the Open Book author wore a matching red fluffy robe with her youngest daughter and donned heart-shaped sunglasses as they posed for the camera on a staircase.

The carousel of pictures also included a family selfie on a leather couch and some snaps from Valentine’s Day with themed toys. Melissa Gorga, a star of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, was among the many followers who praise the photos, commenting, “And cuteness.”

Simpson has been open about her journey as a mother. Particularly her struggles with postpartum depression after her daughter, Maxwell, birth in 2012. She has spoken candidly about her experiences in her memoir, Open Book, and advocated for mental health awareness.
