Mitchell Starc’s T20I Retirement Surprises Captain as Mumbai Faces Weather Alert

Australia’s premier fast bowler Mitchell Starc has concluded his T20 International career after 65 matches, leaving captain Mitchell Marsh to discover the news through social media rather than direct communication. The left-arm speedster, who played a crucial role in Australia’s 2021 T20 World Cup victory, made the decision to focus on prolonging his Test and ODI careers ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

Captain Left in the Dark

Starc admitted his communication oversight, revealing he informed head coach Andrew McDonald but failed to directly contact Marsh. “I felt bad because he texted me and said he found out through Instagram. So, I felt bad about that one. Sorry, Mitchy. Didn’t tell the captain,” Starc confessed to cricket.com.au. The bowler acknowledged he should have personally called his captain about such a significant career decision.

Weather Concerns in Mumbai

Meanwhile, Mumbai continues under a yellow weather alert until Saturday, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting light to moderate rainfall for the next 48 hours. The Maximum City recorded varied precipitation across regions, with eastern suburbs receiving 24.86mm, the island city 9mm, and western suburbs 7.15mm by Friday morning. IMD officials attribute the ongoing weather pattern to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, creating interactions between dry and moist winds affecting Mumbai and surrounding Konkan districts.

The weather bureau has issued orange alerts for Palghar, Thane, and Raigad districts through Sunday, with conditions expected to improve from September 7 onwards.
