Pinterest Adds 21 Million Users, Reaching 661 Million in Q3

Pinterest has reported strong user growth in its third-quarter 2026 results, published on Oct. 29. The platform added 21 million global monthly active users compared with the previous quarter, taking its total audience to 661 million. The figures point to renewed momentum for the visual discovery platform.

Europe Rebounds as Emerging Markets Lead Growth

A key positive is that user growth in Europe is trending upward again after stagnating, and even declining, over the past year. That matters because Pinterest still earns far more revenue from the U.S. and Europe than from the rest of the world. Still, most new users came from outside those regions, with 17 million added in other markets. Gen Z now makes up 57% of the audience, and engagement is rising in the U.S. and Canada across search, board creation and outbound clicks.

Pinterest generated $1.17 billion in revenue, a 12% rise year over year. Revenue in the U.S. and Canada grew 14%, while international growth was mainly held back by regulatory changes in Europe that affected cross-border selling. The company plans to apply the strategy that reignited U.S. and Canadian growth to other regions.

New Ad Tools Target High Shopping Intent

Pinterest has rolled out its programmatic buying solution in all regions and recently launched visual search ads, which place promotions in search results and Pin close-ups. With more than 80 billion searches each month, the platform is positioning itself to capture strong shopping intent. It is also expanding creator monetization, letting brands sponsor creator Pins and showcasing products through its own Roku TV show.

However, an influx of AI-generated Pins remains a concern for many users. How Pinterest balances AI-powered discovery with limits on misuse will be worth watching, and many will be curious whether it takes a firmer stance on such content.
