Instagram has unveiled a new recognition program called “Rings” that aims to celebrate authentic creative talent on the platform rather than those who simply chase trends and algorithms.

The initiative, announced on October 6, 2025, focuses on creators who “shift culture” and push past barriers to realize their creative ambitions. According to Instagram, the awards honor those who demonstrate courage in pursuing original ideas rather than just participating in existing trends.

Expert Panel Selects Winners

A distinguished panel of renowned creators and influencers will handpick winners for the awards. The judging panel includes Instagram chief Adam Mosseri, rugby star Ilona Maher, and other notable figures from various creative fields. Unlike traditional competitions, creators cannot enter themselves—winners are selected directly by the judges based on their existing Instagram presence and content.

Exclusive Recognition and Rewards

Winners receive both digital and physical recognition for their achievements. In the app, they’ll display a prestigious gold ring badge on their profiles, along with the ability to customize their profile backdrop color and personalize their “like” button appearance. Additionally, each winner receives a physical gold ring designed by acclaimed designer Grace Wales Bonner.

While the program doesn’t offer direct entry options, Instagram hopes the exclusive recognition will gain prestige over time.
