Roma Send Warning to Manchester United After Record Goal Start

Manchester United face a confident Roma side on Tuesday night, with the Italian club arriving at Old Trafford on the back of a record-breaking start to the Serie A season. Gian Piero Gasperini’s team has scored more goals through its opening league fixtures than at any previous point in its history, and it is making sure opponents know it.

Roma’s Unbeaten Run Continues

Roma won 5-2 at Udinese on Saturday to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games at the start of the Serie A campaign. In those fixtures they have scored 28 goals, more than the club has ever managed by this stage of a season. The result underlined the attacking form that has defined Gasperini’s side so far, and it will give the visitors plenty of belief heading to Manchester.

Malen Leads the Way

Former Aston Villa forward Donyell Malen has been the star of the show. He has scored eight league goals this season and 11 in 12 appearances across all competitions. Yet Roma’s success has not relied on one man. No other player has scored more than three Serie A goals, which shows how widely the scoring burden is shared across the squad.

Gasperini is clearly delighted with what he is seeing, and the contributions of so many players have particularly pleased him. The manager is happy to talk up how confident his team feels ahead of the trip to Old Trafford, a ground where confidence is not so easy to find right now.

For United, the visit of a free-scoring, unbeaten opponent looks like a stern test. Roma have shown they can score in numbers and from many different sources, and they will travel believing they can cause problems in Manchester.
