Dani Carvajal Leaves Real Madrid After 23 Seasons of Glory

Real Madrid have confirmed that Dani Carvajal will leave the club at the end of the 2024–25 season, drawing the curtain on one of the most decorated careers in Spanish football history. The 34-year-old right back joined the club’s academy in 2002 and spent 13 years with the senior squad, making 450 appearances and scoring 14 goals across all competitions.

A Trophy Cabinet Like No Other

Carvajal departs having won 27 titles with Los Blancos, a haul that includes six UEFA Champions League trophies — a feat achieved by only five players in football history. Club president Florentino Pérez paid tribute to the defender, calling him “a legend and a symbol of Real Madrid and its academy.” The club will honour Carvajal during their final La Liga fixture of the season.

His exit comes after a challenging campaign. The arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold pushed Carvajal down the pecking order at right back, while a right foot injury further limited his playing time this year.

International Legacy and World Cup Doubt

On the international stage, Carvajal earned 51 caps for Spain, playing a key role in their 2024 European Championship triumph and the 2023 UEFA Nations League victory. However, a string of injuries over the past two seasons has seen him lose his place in the national squad, with Pedro Porro and Marcos Llorente filling the void. Spain coach Luis de la Fuente is not expected to include Carvajal in his World Cup squad, with Spain set to open their campaign against Cape Verde in Atlanta on June 15.

Carvajal’s legacy at Real Madrid, however, remains firmly etched in history.
