A Season Built on Numbers, Not Silverware

The France forward pointed to a prolific campaign that included 25 La Liga goals and 15 in the Champions League, alongside becoming the all-time leading scorer at the World Cup with 22 goals, moving past Lionel Messi’s tally. For Mbappe, these numbers justify recognition regardless of team success, and he has been direct in stating his belief that no one operated at a higher level than him over the past year.

His case, however, faces resistance. Real Madrid finished the season without a major trophy, and France’s World Cup campaign ended at the semi-final stage following a 2-0 loss to Spain.
