X Launches Cash Rewards Program for Grok Bot Templates

X has introduced Grok Bot Template Rewards, a new program that pays selected creators for sharing useful ways to put its AI-powered Grok Bots to work. The pilot aims to show everyday users what the technology can actually do, and it was announced on September 27, 2026.

What Are Grok Bots?

xAI launched Grok Bots last month as AI agents that carry out tasks on a user’s behalf. According to xAI, each bot has its own computer, signs into tools people already use, and works across apps and inboxes. It completes jobs from start to finish and returns only when approval is needed.

Like most agentic tools, however, Grok Bots face an awareness problem. Many users are unsure what to delegate to them, so concrete examples of valuable use cases are essential to driving adoption.

How the Rewards Program Works

Grok Bot Template Rewards is an invite-only pilot, so participation is limited to selected users. Creators share their bot templates on X, and when others use them, they may earn rewards paid through X Money.

In each payment cycle, X will decide whether to pay a reward and how much. The company says it considers factors such as how many people use a template and how consistently they keep using it over time. X added that its criteria will evolve, and that a creator’s own use of their templates will not count. It may also pay extra to promising creators to help them get started.

Meta has recently taken a similar approach, launching a showcase of uses for its Muse AI agent to help people understand what agents can do.

The bigger hurdle may be trust. Users must allow these agents to access personal data and act on their behalf. Still, as social media has shown, people often set aside privacy worries when they see real value and convenience, which could make utility the deciding factor in winning over audiences.
