In a news uploaded on the team’s official Twitter account on Wednesday, the 29-year-old tweeter wrote: “Regarding the Steelers organization, my teammates and coaches, I would like to officially announce that I have decided to retire from the NFL.”
Tweet Twitt thanked the city of Pittsburgh also the Steelers, where he has played for the past eight seasons, and said he felt “blessed to come out of this game in his health.”
According to The Washington Post, the 29-year-old said he was “called up from football” and cited several significant changes in his life. The tweet left the field after the tragedy, and he also graduated from the University of Notre Dame.
“I need to thank everyone for the love also support they show on and off the pitch,” he said.
The tweet also thanked Rooney and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin. His statement continued, “It has been an honor and privilege for me to play for this historic team. The Steelers have not announced any plans to replace Tweets before the upcoming NFL season.
