X Rolls Out Video Reactions So You Can Reply With Your Face

X has introduced a new “React with Video” reply feature for iOS users, allowing people to respond to posts with a selfie video overlay or split-screen recording — bringing a TikTok-style interaction format natively into the platform for the first time.

How the feature works

The option appears directly within the post reply menu. When selected, it opens a recording window that activates the front-facing camera and lets users film their reaction in real time. The resulting clip can be displayed as an overlay on top of the original post or formatted as a split-screen, with the source post visible alongside the reaction video for added context.

The move comes as video activity on X continues to grow, and it underscores just how reply-driven the platform already is. According to figures cited by former CEO Linda Yaccarino, 300 million of the 500 million daily posts on X are quote posts or reposts — meaning the vast majority of activity is reactive rather than original.
