Lexi Reed shares an update after being diagnosed with calcification
“Lexi Reed will survive this,” the influencer said of losing weight after being diagnosed with rare and terminal kidney disease.
Lexi Reed continues to think positively as she struggles with the painful effects of her kidney failure.
On Tuesday, the 31-year-old weight loss influencer shared a health update on her Instagram Story, revealing that she has had a blood transfusion since specialists diagnosed her with calcifications.
Calciphylaxis is a severe and low condition in which calcium builds up in the blood vessels also blocks blood flow to the skin, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
This can lead to open sores and potentially fatal infections.
“I just went to the doctor to get an IV. I had surgery on Friday for my wound so I could get some dead skin off the top, which was scary because you know I don’t like surgery”, Reed told his followers. “But I’m fine. It hurts so much every day I cry. Some days are better than others, but I have a strong support system.”
She then thanked her husband, fans, and everyone who supported her and cared for her health. Reed said he will now have to undergo surgery to remove open wounds on his body which have “necrotic dead tissue,” to heal correctly.
“I’m fine; I’m going through this,” he added. “Every day is a good day to keep fighting. And believe that things will get better.”
“I’m happy to be here to continue to fight for my health every day, despite all that has happened this year and all the failures and fears,” Reed wrote above the video.
